Senior Olympic Games 2014

The 2014 “River City Nursing Home & Assisted Living Games” took place on Tuesday, August 5th in Chandler, Indiana.  We had seven residents participate in this annual community event.  Participants from our facility included:  Sue Burke,  Mary White, Geraldine Verwayne, Edna Keller, Emma Burden, Goldie Shaw, Doris Washburn, and Amy Young.

The residents competed against many other residents from various Warrick County health care facilities in events such as washers, ball toss, bean bag toss, fishing, ring toss, and wheelchair races.

Residents compete in bean bag toss (pictured above) and wheelchair races (pictured below.)

Three of our residents were able to bring home medals this year!  The winners from Newburgh Healthcare are as follows:

Edna Keller: Placed 1st in Women’s Wheelchair Race (Heat 1)

Goldie Shaw: Placed 1st in Women’s Wheelchair Race (Heat 2)

Amy Young: Placed 1st in Women’s Ball Toss

Chandler Police Chief Marlin Weisheit awarded first place winners with a gold medal, second a silver, and third a bronze medal.  All residents who participated received a ribbon.

We would like to congratulate all of our residents who participated in this event and we thank all of our staff who attended to assist during this community activity.
