The 2013 “River City Nursing Home & Assisted Living Games” took place on Thursday, June 13th in Chandler, Indiana. We had nine residents participate in this annual community event. Participants from our facility included: Dorothy Amos, Sue Burke, JoAnn Trepanier, Lucile Biggerstaff, Mary White, Rose Jones, Bettye Behme, Laura Hays, and Anna Mae Griswold.

The residents competed against many other residents from various Warrick County health care facilities in events such as washers, ball toss, bean bag toss, fishing, ring toss, and wheelchair races.

Five of our residents were able to bring home medals this year! The winners from Newburgh Healthcare are as follows:
Anna Mae Griswold: Placed 2nd in Bean Bag Toss
Rose Jones: Placed 2nd in Ball Toss, 2nd in the Fishing Game
Sue Burke: Placed 2nd in Washers
Dorothy Amos: Placed 1st in Ring Toss, 3rd in the Women’s Wheelchair Race
JoAnn Trepanier: Placed 1st in Women’s Wheelchair Race
Chandler Police Chief Marlin Weisheit awarded first place winners with a gold medal, second a silver, and third a bronze medal. All residents who participated received a ribbon. We would like to congratulate all of our residents who participated in this event and we thank all of our staff who attended to assist during this community activity.
Newburgh Healthcare would also like to thank the Town of Chandler for hosting this year’s Olympics at the Chandler Community Center and SWIRCA for organizing the event. Without community support, the Senior Olympics would not be possible!
