Did you know July is “National Picnic Month”? Upon discovering this, the Activity Department knew that the themed-party of the month simply had to be inspired by the tradition of gathering with friends and family outdoors to socialize while enjoying food and beverages. Although the weather was too warm for an outdoors excursion, we were still able celebrate the tradition indoors with entertainment provided by musician Neil Yockey.
The Activity Department decorated the Dining Room using colorful picnic plates on the left wall and on the right decorated with kites in order to represent the spirit of the American picnic.
Residents created decorations for the Dining Room chandeliers in craft groups throughout the month of July with miniature tin watering cans and silk flowers. The Activity staff crafted centerpieces for the tables out of pinwheels and recycled jars.
The Activity staff served peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and fresh watermelon and peaches – both picnic favorites – during the event.
We believe our residents had a great time at this event and would like to thank all staff who assisted with the event!
